David Ma
was born in 1956 in China Shenyang. He is a Chinese American painter, he is
accomplished in Chinese contemporary ink painting, impressionistic style
painting, abstract style painting, and Chinese Ceramic.
Art style：
His painting style was influenced by Zao Wou-Ki, and his teacher Song Yugui. The
main painting styles are impressionist, abstract, and contemporary Chinese ink
painting. Now, He have his own style of painting.
Career :
David Ma grew up in north of China, where is Shenyang in Liaoning.
He started learning painting at age 8 in childhood.
His father taught him the skills to draw the flower and birds.
1968 He started drawing the big character poster.
1974 He graduated his middle school in Shenyang.
1974-1980 He study under Yugui Song who is a Chinese Asian Modern &
Contemporary artist (1940-2017) and famous in Chinese contemporary painting
artist.
1980s he started his college life. He learning from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts
and graduate in 1983.
1989 He worked in Liaoning Provincial Art Museum（Liaoning art Academies）
1989 He went to Argentina. He went to participate in an exhibition of paintings.
Then, he lived in Peru for 3 year. He picked up Spanish when he was living in
Peru. He learned a lot about the local art and culture during this time. Then, he
lived in Japan for 1 year. He study and visit scholar in Saitama prefecture.
1995 He went back to Beijing, China
1996-2013 He has had multiple trips to Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Dubai,
Australia, and Canada. During this period, he fully studied and understood
international art and culture.
2008-2013 He engaged in ceramic creation and studied ceramic craft in
Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, establishing a ceramic studio, Ma Li Ceramic Art
Studio.
2009 He curated an art exhibition in China featuring portraits of Chinese Olympic
sports stars in Beijing National Stadium.
2011 Sanxingdui Bronze Oil Painting Exhibition. Sanxingdui Culture Exhibition of
Ancient Civilization.
2012 He obtained the title of Master of Liaoning Arts and Crafts
2013 He immigrated to the United States and settled in California.
2013-2019 He lived and painted in the United States.
